Whole Health Introduction

This group is designed to introduce veterans to the VA Whole Health approach to care. Some of the objectives are identifying strengths and abilities, wellness goal setting and problem solving. “What matters to you? What would you want your health for?”

Reiki Meditation
 
Time: 1:00 PM- 2:00 PM (EST)
Location: Virtual
 
The meaning of Reiki is “Life Force Energy.” Reiki is a form of energy healing utilizing mindfulness and hand positions to bring you to a state of calmness. The premise is that if you can relax or change your energy, you can open to your own healing. This class will provide you with tools to create a calm within the mind, body, and spirit.

iRest Yoga Nidra
 
Time: 3:00 PM- 4:00 PM (EST)
Location: Virtual
 
Rest (Integrative Restoration) provides simple, easy to follow guided instructions and is usually done in a comfortable reclining position. It offers continuous verbal instructions which keep attention focused and re-focused on specific body sensations, breathing, emotions, beliefs and images. It has been well researched to provide help for symptoms of anxiety, depression, pain, insomnia and PTSD.

Veterans learn a variety of drumming techniques and rhythms designed to help alleviate stress and depression, ease pain and raise energy levels, and reconnect Veterans with the joy of spontaneous self-expression. Every session concludes with meditation practice.

Veterans will have the opportunity to share songs they enjoy or are significant to them, as well as socialize about various genres, music selections and analyze lyrical content.
