VA Staff Team up for Vet to See Son Get Married

Veteran and family gathered in the Chapel

Veteran Fred Miller and his family gathered in the Chapel after the ceremony.

Friday, August 30, 2019

U.S. Marine Corps Veteran Fred Miller has been living with a donated heart since 1990, almost twice as long as anyone could of expected. However, after his son Zeke got engaged with plans to marry in 2021, Miller’s health began to decline. Miller’s family worried he wouldn’t be there to see his youngest son get married, so they talked to VA staff about having a wedding at the hospital.

Miller’s care team banded together to plan a wedding in just a few short days. Sunday, August 25, Miller’s son Zeke and his daughter-in-law Dee, tied-the-knot in a ceremonial wedding in front of their parents at the Louis Stokes Cleveland VA Medical Center, followed by a short reception.
