Healthcare System Director
Jill K. Dietrich became VA Northeast Ohio Healthcare System Director / CEO September 29, 2019. She brings a wealth of VA experience, having served in progressively higher leadership roles throughout the Veterans Health Administration. Ms. Dietrich previously served as Director / CEO for the Dayton VA Medical Center, a 390-bed, tertiary care facility with four VA outpatient clinics, caring for more than 40,000 Veterans annually. Prior to leading the Dayton VA, Ms. Dietrich served as Associate Director for VA Long Beach Healthcare System beginning in June 2015, and was detailed to the Washington DC VA Medical Center in 2017. Ms. Dietrich has also served Veterans at VA medical centers in: Lebanon, Pennsylvania; Columbus, Ohio; Columbia, South Carolina; Montgomery, Alabama; Tuskegee, Alabama; and Chicago Illinois. She is a graduate of the Presidential Management Fellow (PMF) program, the VISN 10 Leadership Development Institute, the Healthcare Leadership Development Program (HCLDP), Leadership VA (LVA) and the Harvard University Senior Executive Fellows Program.

Chief of Staff
Dr. Brian Cmolik became VA Northeast Ohio Healthcare System Chief of Staff effective October 2018. Cmolik has been part of the Cleveland VA Medical Staff since 1993, serving most recently as Chief of Surgery Service since 2013. He began his career with the VA as a cardiothoracic surgeon in 1993, and became Chief of Cardiothoracic Surgery in 2006. Dr. Cmolik completed his undergraduate education at Xavier University in Cincinnati, Ohio in 1979 and received his medical degree in 1985 from Northeastern Ohio Medical University. He is an Associate Professor of Surgery at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine. He remains actively involved clinically in the surgery service, and in clinical research in the cooperative studies program at the VA. During his tenure as Surgical Service Chief, he initiated programs in robotic surgery, transcatheter aortic valve replacement, destination therapy for mechanical circulatory support, and opened a freestanding ambulatory surgery center. His clinical interests are in the management of postoperative cardiac and thoracic surgical patients. He has also served as an acting Veterans Integrated Services Networks region 10 chief surgical consultant. Presently he remains active in the thoracic surgery residency programs of University Hospitals as well as the Cleveland Clinic Foundation, and has been a key faculty member in the general surgical residency program of University Hospitals of Cleveland since 1993.

Associate Director Patient Care Services/Nurse Executive
Dr. Innette Sarduy became Associate Director of Patient Care Services in December 2012. Previously, she served for 12 years at the James A. Haley VA Medical Center in Tampa, Florida as the Chief Nurse for Acute Care. Dr. Sarduy holds an adjunct faculty appointment with Case Western Reserve University Francis Payne Bolton (FPB) School of Nursing and is the Chair of the FPB Chief Nursing Officer Advisory Council. She is also on the advisory council for Ursuline and Notre Dame Colleges’ Schools of Nursing.

Deputy Healthcare System Director
Andrew D. Pacyna became Deputy Director in November 2015. He returned to Northeast Ohio to become the Associate Director of the healthcare system in 2014. Mr. Pacyna started his career with the VA as a Graduate Health Administration Program (GHAP) Resident at the Syracuse VA Medical Center. After completing his training and first position at the Syracuse VA, Mr. Pacyna went on to hold positions with the VA Maryland Health Care System and the Clement J. Zablockie VA Medical Center in Milwaukee. Mr. Pacyna also served as the Acting Director for the VA Ann Arbor Healthcare System in 2017.

Associate Healthcare System Director
Beth A. Lumia became the Associate Director in July 2016. She came to Northeast Ohio from the Bath VA Medical Center in New York where she was the Care Line Manager for the Medical Service and the Diagnostics and Therapeutics Service since 2009. Ms. Lumia also served as the VA Care in the Community Program Manager since 2015. She started her career with the VA in 2003 as a social worker, has accepted several national details in Washington, D.C., and served as the Acting Associate Director for the Erie VA Medical Center in Pennsylvania from July 2013 to September 2013.
