Returning Service Veterans

Are you a returning combat veteran?

Have you experienced difficulty since returning home from your deployment to the Persian Gulf, Bosnia, Somalia, Afghanistan, Iraq or another recent military deployment? Have you felt as though you don't fit in or as if no one else understands what you have been through? Have you been bothered by some of these symptoms in the last month:

  • Chronic Headaches
  • Mood Swings
  • Depression
  • Nightmares
  • Concentration Problems
  • Problems with Sleep
  • Muscle or Joint Pain
  • Poor Memory
  • Irritability
  • Anxiety
  • Painful War Memories
  • Excessive Use of Alcohol or Drugs

The Cleveland VA Medical Center has appointed a group of healthcare workers that those service members returning from Afghanistan or Iraq (OEF/OIF) can contact confidentially to help them. Get in touch with one of the Outreach Contacts listed below.

Also available for you is The Center for Stress Recovery, a post-traumatic stress recovery center designed to assist veterans who have experienced mental trauma or severe stress while in military service. Our programs are designed for veterans of all wars, including WWII, Korea, Vietnam and Persian Gulf, but we have a specialized Clinical Team for OIF/OEF veterans whose goal is to help work through traumatic memories, improve their quality of life, help them reengage with family, children, and friends, and support them in their work life. We do this through a combination of services including: post-traumatic stress education, anger and stress management, nightmare reduction therapy, sleep hygiene, reintegration support groups and much more. Other services offered include family education and counseling, couples therapy, medication counseling, and care management and referral services for other medical issues.
