Louis Stokes Cleveland VA Medical Center

Louis Stokes Cleveland VA Medical Center, a 841 bed multi-unit medical complex, is one of the largest VA facilities in the country. It is affiliated with Case Western Reserve University and is a major training site for residents in Medicine and Surgery as well as many subspecialty fields and other allied health professions.


Locations

The Wade Park unit located in University Circle is the main site for acute medicine and surgery and also houses the General Medicine clinics as well as the majority of the specialty clinics. It is the major training site for the PGY-1 residency as well as the PGY-2 Geriatric and Ambulatory Care residencies.

The Brecksville unit is located approximately 20 miles south of downtown Cleveland Ohio and houses the psychiatric units, long-term care nursing home facility as well as domiciliary. The PGY-2 Psychiatric Pharmacy residency training occurs at Brecksville.

CBOCS - Community-based Outpatient Clinics, are part of the Louis Stokes Cleveland VA Medical Center system. These numerous satellite clinics and community-based outpatient clinics (CBOCs) make access to care more convenient and serve veterans in northeast Ohio.

There are four different ASHP-accredited Pharmacy Residencies offered at the Louis Stokes Cleveland VA Medical Center. They include:

All residents gain significant clinical experience in their area of choice. In addition, residents gain experience in teaching, MUEs, QA projects, case presentations, journal club presentations, P&T write-ups and more.
